In 2008 went to California to collaborate with productions in San Francisco and Los Angeles.  Made contact with various producers from top studios like Disney to smaller independent ones. Directed a test episode for an improvisation show with the Grate Artists of Burbank. Presently is working as a scriptwriter of a feature film for International distribution for the Dean Production Group of Los Angeles.

Has worked in Milan as a freelance director with many production companies largely specializing  in educational, promotional, corporate films, incentive and brand ID videos.

Transfered to Milan and collaborated with various production companies then became exclusive director for Fisheye Productions company developing a new TV format named “The Intruders” and directed the first episode. In the meantime worked on other TV ideas, fictions and entertainments.

PERSONAL PROFILE


Born in Florence, Matteo Piccinini is a professional director and artist who trained in the  Florentine Schools of Art. With a flair for design and visual narration since a very young age, Matteo has developed his own style which combines irony, comedy, provocation, surrealism and imagination over the course of his career.

KEY SKILLS


During attendance at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, studied oil painting under Prof. Roberto Giovannelli and studied Disney cartoons with  Art Master G.B. Carpi.

Working for 2 years with a commercial production company specializing in children’s commercials has given way to the development of stop-motion animation and  specialization in the direction of children in film making.

Paints with oils, designs cartoons, creates storyboard for the audiovisual market and works as a visualizer for advertising agencies.

1998 – 1999

Worked with Building Productions in Florence for two years as an in-house production assistant, cameraman for many art documentaries and editor of corporate films for Agip Petrol Company, music videos and commercials in 16mm and 35mm.

 

1994 – 1997

Directed many short films, one of the most rewarding was “Balija” which won many important prizes such as Fotogramma d’oro in Castrocaro Terme, La cittadella del corto in Trevignano Romano, Sea to Sky Film Festival in Vancouver, Canada, and was broadcasted on the Italian national television RAI 2.

In 1996 directed and produced documentaries and worked as a cameraman for many cultural events organized by the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence.

In 1994 worked in an advertising agency drawing storyboards and layouts of advertising campaigns.

 

Educational training

 

In 1997 received a master’s degree in painting with top grades from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence.

Studied oil painting under the direction of Prof. Roberto Giovannelli at the Academy.  Copied art masters inside the Gallery of Modern Art in Palazzo Pitti. During these five years of study, also trained in photography, scenery and video arts.

In 1992 to 1995 studied with Art Master G. B. Carpi for training as illustration and comic strip designer at the Disney Academy in Milan.

In 1988 studied at the graphic advertising professional school in Florence and also trained in film, photography and cartoons.
